A Thank You Video for the Giants!

The Giants Parade

On Monday, November 1st, the San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers, and won the World Series.

Anya and I, Camryn, went to the Giants Parade on Wednesday, November 3rd. The whole Giants' team was there.

At the parade I, Anya, sat on a newspaper box and could see some of the parade. It was crazy, and I've never seen so many people in one place. I also caught some confetti. Mrs. Woods, our teacher, gave me a rally towel to wave around. I took the MUNI, but it was so crowded my mom had to pushed me on through the crowd.

At the parade, I was pushed against a barricade, and unfortunately, I couldn't see anything. I was stuck between many people, and 3 of them fainted because they couldn't get any air. I arrived at 9:45 am and stayed until about 3:15. I caught a rally rag thrown by staff. There were many news reporters who were surprised by the turn out. I also took the MUNI, and like Anya, I had to push through the crowd to get on.

According to SF Gate, the amount of passengers on BART broke a record, with 522,000 passengers. There were over 3,200 children who played hooky the day of the parade. Some people got to the parade around 4:00 A.M.

Marine Mammal and the Giants Team Up

The Giants are raising money for the Marine Mammal Center. The Giants are doing this for the Marine Mammal Center for free because the Marine Mammal Center saves seal for free. Their program is a nonprofit organization. The Giants are showing support by also having their mascot Lou Seal.

Perfect Mother's Day

On Sunday the Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden Became only the 19th pitcher in history to throw a perfect game. He struck out all 27 Tampa Bay Rays which are the best team in baseball right now.

For Braden, Mother's Day has been difficult because his mother Jodie died of cancer when he was in high school. But who was in the crowd was Braden's grandmother Lindsey. "Dall and I are very close," she said. Brian Wilson the Giants' closer is one of Braden's friends and he said, "There wasn't a stronger figure in his life."

Braden became only the second pitcher in Athletics history to throw a perfect game. Last year Mark Buhrle pitched a perfect game against the same exact team.

Marine Mammal and the Giants Team Up

What is Marine Mammal Day, You Ask?

You know that the San Francisco Giants mascot is the world famous Lou Seal, but did you know that he has his own favorite charity? It's The Marine Mammal Center, of course! So Marine Mammal Day is Lou Seal's big chance to tell all his friends about how the Center helps out seals (and sea lions, whales and more!).

LOU SEAL reports: Because of my great-grandfather, the original San Francisco minor league baseball team was named the San Francisco Seals. As Grandpa told it, the original owner was walking along Pier 23 trying to think of a name for his team. A burst of wind came and blew his cap off his head and into the Bay. My great-grandfather retrieved it with his nose and gave it back to the man. From that moment on, they were called the San Francisco Seals!
