Perfect Mother's Day

On Sunday the Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden Became only the 19th pitcher in history to throw a perfect game. He struck out all 27 Tampa Bay Rays which are the best team in baseball right now.

For Braden, Mother's Day has been difficult because his mother Jodie died of cancer when he was in high school. But who was in the crowd was Braden's grandmother Lindsey. "Dall and I are very close," she said. Brian Wilson the Giants' closer is one of Braden's friends and he said, "There wasn't a stronger figure in his life."

Braden became only the second pitcher in Athletics history to throw a perfect game. Last year Mark Buhrle pitched a perfect game against the same exact team.

What has sports done for me

Sports have affected my life in a huge way. I was always not the best student in my school or anywhere. But, when i play sports I am respected about my athletic talent and not teased or laughed out because of my dyslexia. When I am on the court playing tennis or baseball or even soccer I feel like a whole different person. When I play a sport all my problems melt away. Without sports I think I would be lost in the world with all of my stress.

My favorite sport it tennis. When I was little my dad would play with me everyday after school. Over time all of that playing has payed off. Over the years I have had many coaches play with me and train me for tournaments. My favorite coach was a man named France. He was like a father figure to me. Even though I don't know him anymore because his lessons were to expensive but I still remember him for all of the generosity.

Tempting Fate: Thrill Sport at the Olympics

Every Winter there is Olympic games. Skiers, snowboarders, figure skaters, and other sports that involving ice have been having a startling amount of injuries. Many athletes are staying back and taking care of their bodies like Kevin Pearce. He is recovering over a brain damage from trying a trick. But other people like Shaun White are still going to the Olympic games.

I think these sports are fun to play and watch. They have really helped with the sports industries. The sports are fun for all ages to watch and play. I think that even though there are a lot of injuries, the sport should still go on because every sport people get hurt and it is just natural

The New York Times has a related video that shows how interesting, thrilling and dangerous some of these winter sports can be.
