Today's Talent Show!

Today is the talent show!  This day is full of fun and exciting things to do.  At about 10:30 or 11:00 we will exchange gifts, and Santa's deputy will tell us if we have been bad or good.  Later, after lunch, we will have a talent show, and we will sing Spanish songs and Christmas songs. People will also do their own things or do a solo.  The talent show will end at 2:30. Then at 2:30 until 4:30 parents and teachers will go up to the family room and have a small party.  It will be a very fun day.  Hope to see you there!

Get Ready for the Christmas talent show!

Merry Christmas everybody! We will have a Christmas talent show on December 9,2011. We will have a Santa gift exchange and sing Christmas songs.Our Santa's deputy will be Anya J. Mrs Marta will help us serve coffee and cookies. The show will be from 1:30-2:30pm.Ms. Lydia and Ms.Schmitt help us preform a Christmas songs. You will expect Anya J. to play the piano, Claire P. to play the violin, Nikita K. to sing Jingle Bells in Russian and much more!

While all the kids and students play out in the school yard the parents will have their own little party upstairs in Mr. and Mrs. Grantz's home. In the past we have had break dancing, violin, singing and kindergarteners singing as a group. We all hope you can come!

Holiday Talent Show

This is no ordinary Talent Show... This is Hillwood's Talent Show! From 1pm to 3pm

The Hillwood Annual Talent Show is every year on December 13th. Children who want to perform in the talent show can sign up for it on a sign-up sheet put up a week before the 13th.

The day of the talent show upstairs we start off with some holiday math--we do simple math with the symbols of the holiday, in this case, Christmas symbols-- then go outside or walk around the block. Usually if we're wearing formal and nice clothes including the girls usually wear red and white Christmas dresses and the boys usually wear suits and tied then we walk around the block to not get our nice clothes dirty. Downstairs is the same except instead of math they do crafts.

        Mr. Grantz barbecues hot dogs and we eat lunch outside unless it's raining, which it hasn't done on the talent show for the past 62 years. Everyone could bring they're own sweets, such as brownies, mini cakes, and cookies. Mrs. Grantz bakes her famous cookies and there's punch.

       Then it's talent time! 

This year the kids who announce who's coming next to show off their talent, or MC, were Jay Jaber and Zack Owen-Walkup. The upper-graders (5th-8th) did a popular famous play A Christmas Carol.

     When Ms. Schmitt, our music teacher, came it got really great because of the fun and well-known Christmas songs we do with her. She always makes it even better ( I know, it's hard to believe it's possible). Zack plays classical guitar and Kasama Tillman and Oliver Moorhead-Clarke break-dance. Little Grace Medecki did a ballet dance and Ms. Lydia comes and we have conversations in Spanish. 

That ends our amazing day at the Hillwood Talent Show.

     We run the memories of the great performances through our head and smile.

Holiday Talent Show

The Holiday Talent Show is always before the three-week holiday brake. Ms. Schimtt is a big part of the talent show. She gives each grade a song to sing. She is a very good singer and helps and is a big part of the talent show. The Spanish teacher Ms. Lydia also helps with the talent show. Sometime we sing or even set up a little play. There is also a lot of food and entertainment. This year the person with the most talent I think was Kasama Tillman and André with break dancing. But, this year Brigette Wang did not perform with her violin. Usually she does it every year but this year she could not because her violin broke.

Many people showed up to the show parents, students, and teachers. The talent show started 1 p.m. The show was a hit, Mr. and Mrs. Grantz's house was full of people. The talent show ends at 3 p.m. After that there was a parent social gathering. Its a pot luck. Mr. Grantz always BBQs the best vegetables, sausage, and some meat from Marina Meat Market owned my Mrs. Grantz's brother. Anyways the talent show was a GREAT HIT and you should go!
