Floods in South Carolina

There are some floods that are happening in South Carolina that are about up to people's knees. But town officials and people in South Carolina are trying to preserve the water so that it won't be wasted. City officials are telling people to boil the water for at least one minute so the water will be cleaner.

Some homes are being blocked because of the water on the roads. So National Guardsman are picking up people and dropping them off in temporary homes. Governor Nikki Haley gave a warning that if the flood gets worse, they will have to evacuate their homes.

Since there is a lot of water on the streets, people are trying to make rock dams so there won't be as much water on the roads. But since it takes time to build rock dams, helicopters are putting sandbags to close off more water that is flowing through the streets.
