Facts about the red baron

Manfred Von Richtoven was a famous German ace during the first World War . He shot down mutiple planes and was Germanys Pride and glory during the war . He died on april 21 1918 at the young age of 24 .

Manfred von Richtofen first kills were never officialy counted . He was once serving as an observer he shot down a french bi plane later that year he shot down another one but the kill was never confirmed because it occured on enemy territory .
He had a curious way of celebrating his victories. For every kill he had he ordered a silver cup with the date and plane model engraved on it he had over 40 by the end of his career .
He was made a squadron leader at 24 he was awarded a blue max which is the equalivent of the medal of honor he was awarder the blue max for his 16th victory in February he was put in charge of Jagdstaffel or Jasta 11 he downed 22 planes making him a top scoring ace
Manfred von Richtofen was against killing pilots he shot down planes but allways told his men to never shoot at the men even if they are enemies .
He wrote a biography called “The Red Fighter Pilot” there he writes about his family and how he decided to get into the buisness of being a fighter pilot

Manfred von Richtofen is my idol because he was realy noble in war and cared about human lives. I also admire him because he proves that at a young age you can defy the odds and make anything possible .
