The Nerdy Ninjas

The Nerdy Ninjas return to the planet Earth to save the world with their new super extra nerdy popsicle stick catapult. The Nerdy Ninjas are none other than the nerdy Jay, Erion, Zeke, and Nikita. We are building the one and only Nerdy Ninja catapult. The Nerdy Ninja catapult will be made with 44 popsicles sticks for the structure, hot glue to hold it together, and cardboard to hold the deadly nerdy launching bomb projectiles that go BOOM!!!!!!!!!! to save the Earth and stop the Alien War.

The Awesome Rubber Band Car Wins!

Erion, Nikita, and I made a rubber band car. We made it differently from the directions told us to, because we wanted it to behave differently. We also had some ideas about how we might make it better. You can read the basic instructions on the PBS Kids website.

Deviating from the directions worked for us! We beat Jake and Zeke's rubber band powered car in a race. The car was fast and could last, or run, a long. We used putty, duct tape, skewers, faucet washers, CDs, and a rubber band to make the vehicle. The cardboard was 5 by 6 inches long. The rubber band car had a extra pair of wheels and customized wheels.

The following video clip shows a giant rubber band car made for humans to ride. It is from the Makers' Faire in Austin. The two DESIGN SQUAD engineers are not Adam or Judy. Rather, they are hosts from an earlier season of the show.

What Did Barrack Obama Want All Students To Be Able To Answer?

Barrack Obama just made a State of the Union speech on Tuesday the 25th. He focused much of his speech on education.

There were three questions that Obama wanted all students to answer:

• What do you think of that idea?
• What would you change about the world?
• What do you want to be when you grow up?

Barrack Obama said that we have the most successful companies, and our country has the best colleges and universities. In fact, people come here more than any other place to study in our schools.

Obama thinks the future is ours to win. “The future is not a gift. It is an achievement,” he said, quoting Robert Kennedy.

Obama says, "And now it’s our turn. We know what it takes to compete for the jobs and industries of our time. We need to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world."
