Black Friday

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, which always falls on Thursday. Black Friday is the day for deals and to get on with your holiday shopping. The United States of America is one of the only countries that have Black Friday. Other countries in the world that have Black Friday is Canada, the United Kingdom, and some other parts in the world.

Some of the stores that have had sales is Target and Walmart. Other stores has been places like Forever 21 and H&M are usually located in malls. Products are usually more than 20% off. Stores start to open at 6 a.m  or they start to open a few hours later. However, in the past decade, it has started to creep up to 4 or 5 a.m. Some stores even started opening at midnight.

Over the years, Black Friday has gotten a lot more violent. Starting in 2006, there have been seven reported deaths because people tackle each other to get to the items that they want. There have also been 98 reported injuries. People will camp out in front of some stores in order to be the first person to get inside of the stores.

The history behind Black Friday is that it started in 1952. In the late 19th and 20th century, many parades like the Thanksgiving and Santa parades have been sponsored by department stores. Then, a rule was made that no store would try to do advertising before the parade was over. Therefore, this was one of the reasons why Black Friday was made.
