High Schools All Over the Bay Area are Protesting Against Trump

After Trump's victory, high schoolers all over the country are scheduling walkouts to protest him. In the Bay Area, many schools are doing walkouts right now.

Mission High, SoTA, George Washingon High School, Galileo, Waldorf High School, and Gateway are currently protesting at the San Francisco Civic Center. Thousands of students are gathered around holding signs and chanting,"The people united will never be divided," "Si, se puede," Spanish for "Yes, we can," and profanities about Trump.

Yesterday, other high schools gathered in protest, such as Urban High School, OSA, Northgate High School, Berkeley High School, Bishop O'Dowd High School, and Oakland Technical High School.

Last night, protesters were put in danger in Oakland. Police threw tear gas at angry participants, and people proceeded to throw Molotov cocktails. The protest was originally peaceful, but it eventually became violent and dangerous. Objects were set on fire and windows were broken. Thirty people were arrested and eleven citations were written for unlawful assembly, possession of a firearm, vandalism, assault of an officer, and failure to disperse.

To every school grouped with anger against Donald Trump, stay safe and stand up.
