Lions are going extinct in Africa. The National Geographic Explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert wants you to save lions from going extinct. There was about 450,000 lions in Africa 60 years ago, and now there is about 20,000 now. Adult lion roars can reach about 5 milesaway and they have a tuft of hair on the back of their tails. Some people hunted lots of lions in some parts of Africa. It happened about 50 years ago in parts Africa. Some people in Africa hunted lions because they thought the lions would hurt them. The only big cats that are in groups are lions and the groups are called prides.
