Worry dolls or other wise known as trouble dolls are small, normally hand made dolls that were first created in Guatemala and Mexico. Worry dolls where created for children to tell there problems to the toy, put it under there pillows, and then be able to sleep peacefully through the night with out any worries.
The first person to invent worry dolls was a woman named Flora who lived with her father and two children in Guatemala. At the time Guatemala was going through a drought so Flora sold some of her fabrics to provide food for her family, unfortunately there was a burglar who came in there house and stole all there fabric. She was so stressed out and so made a doll out of whatever she could find to release stress which was the worry doll. After a while this was passed down in generations and later now a days sold all over the world.
Even though the dolls used to be made from sticks, embroidery thread and very small swatches of fabric. The materials are now mainly fabrics from Mayan, wire, wool, and colorful textiles.
