Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks

In the midst of racism one women fought and stayed strong during the racial segregation. She is best known for her part in the Montgomery bus boycott. Her most famous incident was on December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama. Here Rosa rejected bus driver, James F. Blake when he asked her to give up her seat to a white person. While she wasn't the first to stand up for this injustice she made the biggest impact. This act got her arrested. While she sacrificed a lot her actions started boycotts that eventually ended bus segregation. Throughout the boycott, she became the icon for the standing up to the injustice. While she passed in 2005 she is still regarded as the "first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".
