- Amelia Earhart is a famous woman most commonly known because she was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She receive numerous awards, wrote many best-selling books, and accomplished many things.
Amelia was born in 1897 and disappeared on July 2nd 1937 while attempting to fly across the globe alone with her navigator Fred Noonan. Amelia was born in her maternal grandfathers home and was named after her 2 grandmothers. Many biographers describe Amelia as a free spirited tomboy during her childhood, much if which she spent outside climbing trees and playing with her sister.
In 1920 Amelia rode a plane with a famous air racer which would forever change her life. After the 10 minute flight Amelia was determined to become a pilot. Her first lesson was January 3rd 1921 which would be the beginning of her fame.
Unfortunately Amelia disappeared on July 2nd 1937 on her journey to fly around the globe but disappeared between Howland Island and Papua New Guinea. She was later declared dead along with her navigator after no sign of their survival exists.
Recently there has been a few found wreck that are thought to be her plane but no one knows for sure. Overall Amelia was an inspiring woman who set great examples, and will forever be a rolemodel.
