In Madrid the museum Museo Nacional del Prado holds paintings and sculptures. Built in 1785 it was ordered by King Charles III to be the Natural History Cabinet, but later it was changed into the Royal Museum of Paintings and Sculptures - choice of King Ferdinand VII.
Today, at del Prado, there are 7,600 paintings, 4,800 prints, and 1,000 sculptures. In 2.8 million visitors came to look in 2012.
