9 Year Old Kid Reporter

Brennan is a 9 year old news reporter. He runs and edits a blog. His 2 year "blogging" anniversary is February 2, 2010. He lives in Jefferson County, which is around Seattle. He calls his blog the Spruce St. Weekly. He wants to become a journalist when he grows up. He sells his newspapers for 25 cents each and has made about 100 dollars.

How do Americans spend their time? This infographic shows you.

• The word infographic is slang for "informational graphic"; any map, chart, or diagram used to analyze an event, object or place.

• This infographic is made with a computer program called Flash. Flash is program for creating interactive features for websites.

Roll over and click onto this graphic. Spend several minutes clicking around and reading the information that pops up. Take notes as you do this.

Write a brief story -- five sentences -- about this infographic. What do you find most surprising and interesting about how people are spending their time?

To enter the "Why I Learn" contest, students must be at least 13 years old. However, the contest — TIME for Kids — that 9-year-old Brennan entered is for students 13 years of age or younger.

For this assignment, explain the basic information about this award and highlight some of the interesting kids who won this year. You will find information on the TIME for Kids website.
