Leonardo da Vinci's Obsession with Flight

Leonardo da Vinci was a very famous artist for he created the Mona Lisa. However da Vinci had an obsession: Flight.
As well as an artist da Vinci loved to invent. To him, the idea of flying was amazing and his intention was to create a flying machine.
For years Leonardo da Vinci studied birds. How they fly, their wingspan, how they stay in the air. He saw many things about the birds' wingspan and how they stay in the air, but the one thing he didn't see was that the birds stay in the air because their bones are light weight.
There were three inventions that are very famous to this day the da Vinci created. One is a machine that four men have to turn for it to be able to fly called an aerial screw. Obviously that did not work.
Another one was a machine that only needed one man to fly. It was typically a human-sized invention designed to look and fly like a bird called an ornithopter.
A third that actually worked and is used today is the parachute. there is actually not much to say about the parachute because people typically know how it works but it is made so somebody jumps, inflates the parachute, and safely makes it to the ground.
