The Croods, Oz: The Great and Powerful, The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey and Escape from Planet Earth are all new movies that came out in 2012 and 2013. Movies are not the only new things in 2012 and 2013. There were new songs and trends too.
Some of the most popular songs were Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, Gangnam Style by PSY, and Payphone by Maroon 5. Gangnam Style started a whole new dance trend and song trend. As soon as the song plays, people start doing the dance, which requires one to gallop in place or side to side while waving one's arms in certain ways. The song has been played so many times, but no one knows the lyrics except for the chorus. Also, the chorus is the only part in English; the rest is in Korean.
Gangnam Style isn't the only popular song/dance craze that became popular this school year. There was also the Harlem Shake and Gentleman. There have been games that became very popular in 2012 and 2013 like a game originally released in 2009. Minecraft is a sandbox game, where you can do anything and go wherever you want. In Minecraft, you can build a house or go into a cave and slay monsters. A kid can spend hours playing Minecraft.
This year has been a great year for trends, movies, and songs. Though not all of the popular songs, trends, or movies have been great, these years have still been the home for Internet memes, strange songs, dance crazes, and amazing music.
