Dead Whale on Ocean Beach

At ocean beach a rare whale carcass was found. The carcass was forty seven feet long. The whale looks like it was chewed on by sharks.

Marine biologists think it is either a fin whale, Sei whale, or even a hybrid (a combination of two things). A fin whale is pretty rare and there are 2,600 off California,Oregon, and Washington. But the Sei whale is even rarer there are less than fifty in the three states.

People found the whale at 7:00 a.m. The fin whales have been seen off the Farallon Islands. From the slash on its tail, it looks like it was hit by a container ship heading from Los Angeles to Oakland.
